Firefighter Mike Thawley was on his way to a rescue operation when he saw Chunk lying lifeless by the tree. Mike handled the rescue operation and then drove back to the tree to check on Chunk.

Mike found that while Chunk was still alive, her condition was not very promising. She had been abused and neglected by her shameless owner who had abandoned her. Her hairless skin was sore all over due to mange. Mike took the trembling dog to the ward and gave him a warm bath. He then took her to the Front Street Animal Shelter and prayed for her speedy recovery.

But Mike couldn’t get the tormented little dog out of his mind. The next day he went back to the shelter to see how she was doing. Mike’s heart melted when Chunk jumped out of the kennel to greet him! The grateful girl recognized her savior immediately and showered him with many sweet kisses!

When Mike’s wife Carla and his 3 daughters found out about Chunk, they knew immediately that the dog should be their furry companion. The family waited 4 months for her to recover from the mange and then took her home. What a touching happy ending for Chunk! Let’s speak out against the shameless abuse of innocent animals!
